- The extra step of washing produce is sometimes a daunting task, especially when you’re in a hurry. However, it is beyond the mot significantly important step. If you don’t have time to wash it, don’t eat it.
Rachel Nall published this really great article that is worth reading. In the article she points out the importance of taking the extra measure of washing. She says,
It helps prevent food-borne illnesses, including those caused by bacteria such as Salmonella, Listeria and E. coli. In addition, washing vegetables can eliminate any residue left by harmful pesticides.
I don’t know about you but these things are scary to me. I want to eliminate the expose of as many dangers to our health as I can. Rachel Nall also clears up some misconceptions between organic and non-organic produce stating that even organically grown vegetables can have contaminants from the soil. ALL produce needs to be washed.
Need more convincing? I thought so.
